sexism in the 1950's

55americanlightpower.jpg

This poster displays sexism because is says how much electricity does it have, then shows a woman doing house work that requires electricity.  This poster is saying that there is enough for the woman to get all the house work done with out ruining out.  It also shows a young boy in a workshop with his dad and their plugging in a electrical cord.  That is stating that the men are the ones that do the building while the women are the ones that do the cleaning.

impact of television on society

The impact the television had on the people of the 1950's was that before everyone was out doing this and out of their house but once television was introduced people began to spend more time at home watching it. At first since television was not being broadcast 24/7 it did not effect people as much as it does today.  In todays time people spend hours a day in front of the television and it causes people to become lazy sitting on the couch all day.

short story

One day me and my two brothers had to spend the day with our grandmother, non of us were really all that excited about it.  Well at a quarter to 12 she arrived at our house and we all headed out. The first thing we did was go to the zoo and my two older brothers were acting as if they were to cool to be with her, you could tell she was getting upset and eventually we went to lunch at a local diner.  While waiting on our food she started to tell us about her childhood and that made my two older brothers really interested and we all started to talk and share stories and by the end she bought all of us a pice of pie.

WW11 Lockheed P-38 Lighting fighter aircraft
This aircraft was produced during WW11 and was put in to the view of the public on February 11th 1939.  The aircraft took a few years to perfect and by 1942 it was being used as a combat plane. During the production 9,923 of these aircrafts were built and production stopped in 1945.  This aircraft only had enough room to house a pilot and was a very versatile plane in the field.

Secrets

In the U.S. and many other countries they will edit out parts of their history and keep it from being taught in a high school class room.  I feel that even though a of things people do is wrong we need to still teach it in the class so we ca learn from our mistakes.  In a high school class room the students are at the age where they could accept the facts and learn from the past.  Also even though its not going to be taught does not mean it never happened, letting people know and accepting the mistake is the best thing you can do.

The risk

I believe the united states should not get involved in other countries affairs unless it is  direct threat to us.  This is because there is a chance that we will not even need to get involved and that by us getting involved we could put our selfs at risk.  By getting involved the U.S. could put its people at risk because the other countries could attack us and hurt innocent people.  We should only get involved if there is an absolute threat to the people of the U.S.

cinderella man outline

in the movie cinderella man the main character was a boxer whit a family that lived during the great depression  (http://www.english.illinois.edu/maps/depression/depression.htm).  He was once a washed up boxer that had to work on the docks a to help provide for his family  (http://ingrimayne.com/econ/EconomicCatastrophe/GreatDepression.html).  This was not very sufficient because the job only lasted one day and he would have to go back and try to to picked again.  eventually he gets a chance to try again in the boxing ring where he has a great come back and this leads to him going up against one of the best boxers for the championships.  During the battle against max baer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Baer_(boxer) ),  he wins the round and gets enough money to provide for his family.

Sacco and Vanzetti

File-Sacco_e_Vanzetti.PNG.png

The Sacco and Vanzetti case did not provide enough evidence to support that they were the ones that commented the crimes they were accused of.  For example the seven eyewitness all could not fully agree that they had seen Sacco commit the crime, they all said they saw him or a man who resembles him some even said that he may have been a bandit him self but none of them would fully come out and testify that he was indeed the one who did it.  Another reason is that they could not even completely identify where bullet three had come from.  Ballistics expert had stated that bullet number three had come from Sacco's pistol but two different defense experts had stated that there was no way the bullet had come from Sacco's gun.  Another reason is that they had found a cap that resembled a cap that Sacco had been seen wearing they even had an eyewitness state that they saw Sacco with their own eyes wearing that cap that day of the crime, even though someone may have seen Sacco or someone resembling Sacco wearing a cap that day that is not sufficient evidence to show in the court room.  This is because they do not have proof that it was his and this cap could have come from someone in the crowd that day and could be a false pice of evidence.  Even though they went to pick up a car that resemble the one used in the murder there is no real proof that that was the car truly used in the crime.  The wife of the repair shop had called the police which then Sacco and Vanzetti left the store.  This may seem suspicious but both men stated that the reason they had left the car was because they had soon discovered the car did not have the proper 1920s licenses plates,  not because they were trying to avoid being placed at the scene of the crime.  The fact that Sacco was absent from work the day of the murder does not prove in any way he was a part of it.  In fact Sacco claims he went to see a clerk in Boston about a passport, even though the clerk could not remember seeing Sacco that may be because he sees a few hundred people in one day.  Also Sacco had testified he went to eat at a restaurant where seven eyewitness had claimed to see Sacco eating there early that same day.  The fact that Sacco had lied to police about his radical beliefs after his arrest may seem as if he were trying to cover something up but Sacco himself stated that he only lied to police about his beliefs for the fear that they would deport him once they knew.  As for Vanzetti he was at Plymouth selling fish at the time of the crime where six eyewitness in his defense claimed to have seen him there.  Also Levangie could not even keep his story straight when if cam to identifying who the driver was leaving the crime scene.  Levangie stated him self it would be hard to identify the driver shortly after the shooting,  he also told someone else he had seen no one while another stated that Levangie declared the driver to be a fair-haired male while Vanzetti is a dark-haired man.  Eve though Vanzettie owned a gun the resembled on at the crime, Vanzettie states that he bought the gun from a friend and he was concerned about all the hold ups so he got it for protection with the money he earned from selling fish,  His friend even stated that he had in fact sold the gun to Vanzettie.  Vanzettie had led to the police to protect his friends and him self seeing how the country was in the red scare he did not want to be seen in the wrong way, he was in Bridgewater the day of the crime to pick up anarchists literature.  In conclusion neither Sacco nor Vanzetti had commited the crime that they were accused of.

Scopes Trial

The scopes trial was a trial about eveoluationsm and creationsm and which one should be taught to students.  I feel that eveoluationsm  should be taught because it is more scientafic and todays socity people might get affonded by creationsm.  Creationsm is more to do with relion and not everyone have the same ideas on that.  Eveoluationsm has more facts and has a place to be tought in school such as a science class.

Organized crime

The group preasations helped me see all the different types of gangsters there were in the 1920s and how they affected the present day.  For example most of them caused sercirty to rise in banks and other areas.  One of the most immportant things in they caused the FBI to form.  That made a huge impact on socity because it allowed not only the local police to deal with the gangsters but also a more advanced and more powerful angency to pitch in.  All the gangsters had their own special impact on todays socity, while some where grater then others they are all important.

acrostic poems

People became angry over alcohol
Raging through the streets
Over throwing the
Happiness of people
Inspecting homes and buldings
Before anyone could stop
It everything was gone
This started illegal bars
In the night, the
Only way in was to know the
Name of the pass word

Rolling in money
Over spending all day
Attending all the parties
Really enjoying life
Intentally doing bad
New types of women showed off their
Gams in the public
Taken by surprise other
Women felt
Everyone was
Never going to stop
Totally out of control
Intresting all the boys
Embracing the new age
Starting to lose control

Extra credit

Last friday was the school dance and it would have been the cats meow if it wasn't for the fire extinguishers there.  All of them think there the big cheese, but really there just lame.  The dance ended up being darb and someone pushed me and broke my cheaters.  But thats not even the worst part we left the dance early and we to the drug store to try to get the drug store cowboy to get us some giggle water but he was already drinking some and upchucked right in front of us.  I went  home and to my surprise my mom was there early from work and asked me to rub her dogs, how gross.  Nothing about last friday was berries.
